From a young age I have been exploring my artistic side, from sitting down on the floor drawing playing with a set of markers for hours, nothing made me more happy than seeing all those colours on a piece of paper. Little did I know I would be following an artistic career.
Growing up I learn to draw by watching my mother, a talented artist. After moving from Colombia to Canada, art was a channel of familiarity in this new place which grew to be my home. Shortly after the big move, I started attending OCADU. I stoped my full-time enrolment to focus on some work opportunities that have been arising. However I started to realized that my heart was missing something, I needed to focus back into my studies to fulfil my curiosity and knowledge thirsty mind. I completed the graphic design program in May 2014. It was totally worth it, all those long nights, those years of what it all seems to blend into one. Currently I am a freelancer still exploring different aspects of design. Before that I had been a senior designer for Novramedia.
My favourite thing about working as a designer is dive in into big or small challenges and come up with creative solutions, cohesive designs and experiences. Including a client being ecstatic with their design. It’s all about their story after all.
My design process starts with research, this will show both my client and I what are the real needs. Ensuring my concepts align with the brand and meet marketing objectives. Having worked with companies such as Porter and Sloane, Brooks Brothers Canada and the BMO Corporate Finance, has brought me a set of skills but has also proven I hold a high standard to maintain and promote the brand by having a keen eye for detail.
Designing challenges me but I wouldn’t change it.
